Guest Designer

Yosemite - Olmstead Point I was really excited a few weeks ago when Tamara from the Sketches! {by tamara} blog asked me to be a guest designer.  I have been using a lot of Tamara's sketches recently so I was thrilled to be asked.  Well today is the day - so check out her blog!

This is the layout I did - more photos from our holiday this summer and I have used bits from the last couple of studio calico kits.

Sisterly Fun

Sisterly Fun
I did this layout a couple of weeks ago but I have only just got around to uploading it.  Used Studio Calico kit and stamped around the edge with the stamp from the kit.  I used an old sketch from Tamara's blog.

On top of the world?

On top of the world  I did this layout this afternoon using last weeks sketch(74) on Tamara's blog.  I'm not keen on hidden journalling as it means taking the layouts out so I skipped that part but added some extra photos too.

More pictures from Yosemite this summer.

Sorry about the flash on the photo - it was dark by time I finished it!

Saturday's Crop

Tenaya Lake  Last Saturday was our local monthly crop.  We had lots of challenges and prizes to make it more exciting for Christmas and it was a really good productive day.

All my layouts are done with various bits from the last 3 studio calico kits that I had just thrown together into a box!

The first layout is of Katherine at Tenaya Lake in Yosemite where her and Graeme went for a swim.  Her comment afterwards was it was the best view she had ever had whilst swimming backstoke so I wanted to make sure I captured that memory.

Wisteria Lane

The second layout uses some photos taken at Universal Studios in the summer.  The houses are part of the set where Desperate Housewives is filmed .  The road is called Wisteria Lane in the series - hence the title.

Tigz & Barley 2

The 3rd layout of the day is some recent photos of our cats.  This uses sketch 58 from the Sketches by Tamara blog.  The photo corners are made with some of the packaging from the prima flowers.

Chateau Marcay 2

For my final layout it seemed a shame to waste the edge of the cutout from the previous layout so I used that as the starting point!  The photo is from a trip to France a while ago.

Birthday Card

Lisa Card  I made this birthday card today for one of Katherine's friends.  I used my cricut and design studio.

The design was lifted from a card done by the very talented Tracy Gough.

Old Faithful Geyser

Old Faithful  This layout is the first 6 x 12 layout that I have ever done.  It was inspired by this weeks sketch on the Sketches! {by Tamara} blog.

I used this months scrapagogo kit again and the photos are from our trip to California in the summer.

Advent Calendars

Advent Calendars On Sunday Becky and me made the advent calendar on the left.  Katherine wanted one too so I made the one on the right for her on Monday.  They are made from matchboxes and the instructions can be found on the Bubbly Funk website.

Jersey Open Water

Jersey Open WaterI used this months gorgeous scrapagogo kit and last weeks sketch on the sketches by Tamara blog.

The journalling reads as follows:
On Sunday 21st September 2008 the very first Jersey Open Water Competition was held at St Catherine’s Bay. Despite how the weather looks in the pictures the sea was very rough. Katherine swam in the Junior 3km race and won by over 10 minutes. Afterwards she described it as ‘like being in a washing machine’. The combination of wind and tide blew them way off course making it much longer than 3km. Because of the weather the senior 5km race was reduced to 3km and Graeme took part in this finishing a very creditable 4th, in the men’s race.

I want to break free

I want to break free  This is my take on this weeks UKS challenge.  There were certain words that could be in the title one of which was free which seemed to fit the photos - just about!

The rest of the challenge required using old stash and adapting old bits so I found an old chipboard tag, a 3d embellishment and a bottle top and painted them all then put stickers on.  Once the white paint was out decided to go round the edges of all the papers too!!  I cut the patterned paper on my cricut.

Just realised the date should be 2007 not 08!!  Will have to change that tomorrow!!

Yosemite

YosemiteAnother layout done for a UKS weekly challenge.  Used left over bits from September's gogo kit.

This is one of many photos I took at Yosemite in the summer!

Monthly Crop

Plougrescant  I did this layout for this weeks UKS challenge.  The challenge was for a French theme or title and to use a sketch amongst other things.  These photos were taken earlier in the year on a day trip to France.

For the layout below I used this weeks sketch on the Sketches{by Tamara} blog.  The sketch is for a single layout but I rotated it and used it again for the right side.  Photos are from a visit to a vineyard in Napa this summer.

I used this months lovely scrapagogo kit for both layouts.

Bat and Ball

Bat and Ball - 600  I did this layout yesterday.  I used the sketch on the Sketches by Tamara blog as my inspiration.  I also tied it into the this month last month challenge on Scrapagogo as all the papers, letters and embellishments are from the last 2 kits.

Photos are of my nephew and daughter playing on the beach in the summer.

What is a cat?

What is a cat  I wouldn't normally put a poem on a layout - nothing wrong with it but it's just not the way I normally scrap.  However this weeks challenge on UKs wanted something scrumptious and a poem so I found this lovely photo of Katherine and Barley and a poem about cats on the internet.

Muir Woods

Muir Woods This is the layout I did yesterday based on another sketch on Tamaras blog.

Just a very simple layout using Septembers studio calico kit.  Given the size of the photos I didn't think it needed much more.

Tall trees  I did this layout this morning as part of the mojo boosting challenge thread on UKS.  I scraplifted a layout by weetabix which can be found Here.  My version is much simpler though!!

Again the photos are from Muir Woods and I used a mixture the last 2 studio calico kits.

Baking Time

Baking Time  I did this layout this morning in between taking and fetching the kids from swimming.  I did it for the UKS weekly challenge.  Normally this isn't a photo I would have scrapped but I was searching for a photo that I could include 'time' in the LO somehow.  I was pleased with the way it turned out and it's nice to have a record of the memory even if there aren't any pictures of the kids.

Used this months gogo kit that arrived yesterday (with a few extra buttons).  The title was done with my cricut and the 'time' was cut using my new graphically speaking cartridge.  The letters weren't standing out enough so I painted behind them.

I did another LO this afternoon but didn't get a chance to take a photo whilst it was still light so I will post that one tomorrow.

More California Layouts

Embarcadero  Some photos taken in San Francisco on our recent holiday.  I used last months gogo kit (except the letters),

RachelandMike

I love this photo of Rachel and Mike taken at a family meal in Santa Monica.

Another outing for this months Studio Calico kit mixed with last months gogo letters.

Monthly Crop

Budding photographer It was our usual monthly crop today and I managed 3 LO's.

The photos were taken at Muir Woods during our recent holiday.

As with all the layouts I used this months studio calico kit which I am loving.  Becky however doesn't like it because it isn't pink enough!!

Just realised the butterflies were from last months gogo kit!

I used this weeks sketch from the Sketches {by Tamara} blog.

Seaworld

These photos of the penguins were again taken on our recent holiday in Seaworld San Diego - love that place.

I used a pencil lines sketch.

Is it real

Another pencil lines sketch and another sea world photo.  We saw this fantastic picture on the wall and Katherine said 'I want that picture on my bedroom wall' so I took a photo of it.  The photo came out much better than I expected so couldn't resist putting it on a layout.

The future astronauts?

The future astronautsThis layout was done for this weeks UKS challenge and I used this months studio calico kit which arrived today.

Adore...my family

Adore My Family

Here is today's layout.

The photo was taken at Seaworld and the sign in front is our surname!!

I used this months scrapagogo kit with a few extra alpha's.  The tag says 'my family' in case you can't read it.

This one came together really easy - normally I spend ages arranging and rearranging things but this is where the kit really came into it's own.

Mission Beach

Mission BeachThis layout was inspired again by this weeks sketch on the Sketches! by Tamara blog.

The photos were some of my attempts at being artistic on holiday!

Papers etc are all from this months Scrapagogo kit.

There is some glitter on the cardstock that doesn't show up well on the photo!

1st Open Water

First Open WaterThis is my layout for this weeks UKS challenge.  Photos are as the title says all from Katherine's first open water 3K swim in London last year.

Resting

Resting  I did this layout yesterday for last weeks UKS challenge.  The challenge was to use a photo of someone sleeping - Katherine using the trampoline as a bed!  Also needed to use scraps so I used up bits left over from some old kits.  Stamping was required so I stamped the journalling block and the final requirement was a heart so I added the pin a the top.  There is fake stitching round the edge but it doesn't really show on the picture.

Papers are crate paper - love them!

Mission Bay Condo

Condo This layout was inspired by this weeks sketch on the Sketches! {by Tamara} blog.  Yet more pictures from our recent California holiday.  The journalling tells the story of how the condo we had booked wasn't available so we had to find another one at the last minute.  Papers are from office lingo and fancy pants(dream) and the journalling sticker is from American Crafts with some bazzill as the base.

Finishing LO's

Gogo Getaway I have a few layouts half done - don't we all!  So I decided to try and finish a few off.  Here are 3 of them.

These photos are from Gogo Getaway earlier in the year.Yr6 Les Landes

This layout is from Katherines primary school leaving party.  The names of all the kids are on the tag behind the photo.

Race for Life   This is an old photo from 2004!

Still a few more to finish off!!

Becky at Tenaya Lake

Becky Tenaya LakeI did this layout for this weeks UKS challenge.  Part of the challenge was to use 3 different patterned papers from 3 different manufacturers which was harder than I thought!  Photo is another one from our holiday.

Who is taller?

Who is tallerAnother California LO and again I used a sketch from the Sketches! {by Tamara} blog.

Paper is BG euphoria bless with some bazzill and doodlebug letters. Plus the gorgeous Queen & Co felt.

The journalling tells the story of a summer of Becky standing on her toes in photos so she is taller than her sister. They were measured a couple of days ago and Becky is now officially taller!

Productive Crop

Kayaking  Today was our local monthly crop.  Normally I am lucky to complete 2 layouts but today I managed 4 -must be a record for me.

All the photos are from the recent California trip and used various elements of the last couple of studio calico kits.

The first one was based on a sketch on a blog I have only just found called Sketches! by Tamara (see link on left.)  Unusually for me the layout ended up looking very similar to the sketch - no rotating even!

Cable Cars

This one is also using a sketch from the Sketches! by Tamara blog.

Terminator

For this one I used a page maps sketch but changed the size to A4.

  Watching the boats go by

The final layout is very very basic but it is 2 more pictures scrapped.  It may need a little more journalling to explain the title.

Union Square

Union Square  So I am on a roll now!  This layout was done for this weeks UKS challenge using a sketch, black and white, 9 embellishments (there are 9 gems honest!) but I did forget the stampng.

Pictures were taken on holiday - the bottom left and the right hand one were taken from the cheesecake factory at the top of Macys (top left).

Used basic grey - black tie -black with KI memories lace cardstock.  Some doodlebug pink letter stickers and doodlebug rub-ons.

California 2008 layouts begin..

KatherineDue to holidays it has been a while since I have done any layouts but here are my first 2 layouts from this years holiday in California.

This photo of Katherine was taken at Seaworld whilst sat in a cafe.  I think it is a really nice picture.

I used August's Studio Calico kit.

Sunset over Pacific

The second layout is some mediocre photos of the sunset taken on Mission Beach San Diego.  Unfortunately we never saw a completely clear sunset but it was still nice down on the beach.

Used July's Studio Calico kit.

Am I taller yet?

Am I taller yet These photos were taken a few days ago.  Becky is very nearly as tall as her sister but not quite there yet.  I think Becky is keener for it to happen than Katherine!!

Used this months studio calico kit.

Castle to Harbour

CastletoHarbour This is the left side of a double layout done on the castle to harbour swimming race.  The race is from the breakwater on Elizabeth Castle right into the harbour and marina finishing by the maritime museum.  Everyone did really well and it was a very enjoyable afternoon.A family affair

Here is the other side.

Tigz & Barley

Tigz & Barley This layout was inspired by the CHA challenge on the Triple the Sketch Blog

I used MM paper from this months Scrapagogo kit and the flowers/ brads were from the same kit. The lace was from a pack I bought at gogo getaway.

I took the photo and then realised I hadn't written on the tag! It will say July '08 Tigz and Barley in the garden

Team Challenge

ElectronicBabyWeekend Yet another post today!  Just remembered I never uploaded this layout done for our team scraplift challenge a few weeks ago.

Used last months Studio Calico kit - nearly time for another kit now:-)

Final Getaway challenges

Katherine 2008

At yesterdays crop I did the final 2 sketch challenges set at gogo getaway.

This one was to do with Dream Street Papers and I found these gorgeous ones in the gogo shop.  Yet again I turned the sketch around  I think I only did one of the 7 the same way!Maritime Museum

The final sketch challenge was set by Caroline who kindly picked us up from Luton airport.  The line to use was Rusty Pickle which I struggled with but all the painted bits are from Rusty Pickle.

The only thing not finished from my gogo weekend was the final class by Jane Dean which is a mini book which I hope to finish soon.

I also made a mini book in Shimelles class but I haven't taken any pictures plus 2 smaller make and takes too.
